  Packhouses & Cold Store Facility

There are 3 packhouses on Broodkraal that pack 24 hours per day during the peak grape season, as well a dedicated punnet packhouse for value added packaging. Joubertsdal and Mooikelder also have their own packhouse for the packing of grapes.

Joubertsdal and Mooikelder have their own grape packhouses. The temperature in the packhouses is kept at 22ºC.

The packhouse is specifically designed for the packing of plums and citrus varieties in the most “fruit friendly” way possible. The handling of the fruit is of paramount importance to the company, thus ensuring only the very best quality is packed. Before entering the facility, the fruit is hydro cooled to reduce the field / pulp temperature as soon as possible. This is particularly important in mid summer when the temperatures can be in the high 30º C's and even 40ºC.

The facility also has seven large de-greening rooms for the correct preparation of the citrus.

The cold store facility, with it’s 16 tunnels and various holding stores, can accommodate up to 1 370 pallets of fruit. It has the ability to cool table grape cartons to -0,5ºC within 24 hours.
