There are about 1 100 permanent employees in the Group. During the peak harvesting time, the labour complement increases to over 3500 employees, most of whom are transported to the farms on a daily basis.
The Group is proud of it's housing and other staff facilities. The permanent labour force is housed in modern housing on all the farms. Broodkraal has a staff village consisting of accommodation for between 900 and 2000 people, a community hall, clinic, sports facilities and a modern crèche for the benefit of the workers' children. There is a crèche on each of the farms to care of the workers' children.
Empowerment of the workers is a priority, with a Farm Workers Trust and Community Trust having been formed. As participation is voluntary, all the workers in the group are encouraged to participate in the Trust, which has a 32% interest in Broodkraal.
